Wear your retainers full-time (about 22 hours per day) for the first 6 months after treatment. Afterward, transition to nightly wear for life to maintain alignment. Consistent use keeps your smile straight for years to come.
- Day Aligners are worn for 22 hours per day, and only removed before eating and drinking. The average treatment time is 4-6 months.
- Night Aligners are worn for 10 continuous hours per day, and should not be removed during that period. The average treatment time is 8-10 months.
- Retainers are worn for 22 hours per day if you just finished orthodontic treatment (just like day aligners). After 6 months, they are to be worn during evenings for 8 hours (or more) for life to maintain results
- Night guards are worn during naps or while sleeping to prevent grinding and clenching your teeth.
